Phil Hay has been speaking about a major change Jesse Marsch could make at Leeds United this upcoming transfer window.

Leeds United will be set to undergo an interesting summer transfer window which could see a squad overhaul if Jesse Marsch believes that his current crop of players aren’t good enough to implement the style of play and tactics he wished to bring to Elland Road.

There have already been reports suggesting that the likes of Robin Koch, Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha could be set for the exit door this summer and while this may have been unthinkable under Marcelo Bielsa, it’s still yet to be seen how Marsch intends to operate in the transfer market as a Premier League manager.

Something that could be about to change and would be music to the ears of younger players, is that Marsch could be open to loaning players out compared to what Bielsa was, which was well documented given his thoughts on Crysencio Summerville asking to leave temporarily in January.

Hay gave his thoughts about this crucial change that could impact a lot of young players this summer while speaking on The Phil Hay Show.

“I suspect that Leeds and Marsch will be far more open to players going on loan than Bielsa was, particularly because the under 23s squad is now moved a little bit away from the first-team squad.

“I mean tactically you can see the kind of similarities between them so there’s obviously that connection there, but you’re not going to get as many under 23s training with the first team now as you did before.”

TIF Thoughts on more players being loaned out…

Bielsa was not happy to find out that a load of players were looking to leave Leeds on loan in the January transfer window, but he did allow one youngster to leave and that was Cody Drameh who is now starting regularly for Cardiff City and gaining first-team experience which will be helping his development more than sitting on the bench with the Leeds first team.

However, now under Marsch, he may well be more lenient on loaning young players out to aid their development, especially with players such as Leo Hjelde, Summerville, Lewis Bate and Liam Cresswell who have only started one league between them this season, which will only be holding them back in their growth as payers and thus, not helping Leeds build for the future.
