Leeds United supporters broke a record on Friday night as the Under-23 side entertained Premier League 2 leaders Manchester City at Elland Road.

The Whites managed to turn up in their numbers for the game, having an attendance of 21,321. That was a new record for a Premier League 2 match, giving the Leeds fans something to be proud of.

Despite the brilliant turnout, the game didn’t go the way the sea of Leeds fans would have wanted. They fell to a 3-1 defeat after taking the lead early on, but the supporters certainly gave their youth side a night to remember.

Youth team captain Charlie Cresswell was keen to laud supporters on his Instagram after the game, writing: “This club.”

Getting to play at Elland Road will be a great experience for the Under-23s, giving them a taste of what it will be like if and when they get their chance to represent the first team. Being able to do that in front of a record-breaking crowd will be an experience those players won’t forget in a hurry.
