Leeds United will want to get the most money they can for their Brazilian winger Raphinha in the summer if he was to leave Elland Road.

This is according to journalist Dean Jones, who spoke to This Is Futbol about the future of Raphinha and gave his opinion on whether a deal for the Brazilian could include Oscar Mingueza.

Raphinha has been a standout performer in a poor Leeds side this season, he is the Whites’ top scorer after he has scored nine goals in 27 Premier League games. Leeds currently find themselves in a relegation scrap as they sit just two places above the bottom three.

Oscar Mingueza has featured 15 times in La Liga for Barcelona this season, and he came through the Barcelona youth academy. Leeds may be interested in signing him in an exchange deal plus cash for Raphinha in the summer.

However, Leeds may just be keen on getting a significant sum for their man, and then use that money to invest in other areas of the team.

Jones, when asked about whether Leeds would be interested in a potential deal including Mingueza, stated this:

“As long as the money was still significant. You know, when you’ve got a player like Raphinha, you want to get full value out of him. And I would imagine Leeds will push for the biggest fee they can possibly get.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

It will be interesting to see whether Leeds accept an offer that involves Mingueza or if they will just want to get as much money as they can for Raphinha in the summer, rather than a smaller fee and a player.

Mingueza has featured 42 times over the past two seasons in La Liga for his side, whilst chipping in with two goals and three assists in this period, and his current market value is £8.10m, as per Transfermarkt.

With Raphinha having a release clause in his contract of £70m, Jesse Marsch may be keen to get the full sum for their man, rather than a smaller fee and Mingueza, because then he can use the large amount of money that they could receive to invest in the players that he wants to get in the door in the summer.

However, one surprising fact about Mingueza is the fact that he has a €100m release clause (£85m).
