Beren Cross has admitted that he would happily see Daniel James start for Leeds United this weekend.

Leeds United face one of the toughest tasks of the season this weekend when they face the Premier League champions in Manchester City at Elland Road, which is certainly not a fixture they would want during their tough relegation battle.

Should James start this weekend?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

The Whites sit just five points above the bottom three, so if results don’t go their way this weekend, it could get incredibly tight, and with this sort of pressure on Leeds, Cross has tweeted out the team he would select if he was Jesse Marsch.

Cross revealed that he would still be happy to have Daniel James as the main striker despite zero goals in his last 11 league games for Leeds, as he tweeted: “I’m calling for Koch to get in again, but I’d happily stick with James this time.

“If you imagine Leeds scoring, it’s on the break with him going into warp speed behind the City defence.”

TIF Thoughts on James potentially starting…

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

While James is quite obviously not a striker, he has played there for a large chunk of the season, but to very little success, with just four goals to his name. It will surely be frustrating to James, as Leeds have someone that’s played the majority of his career as a striker in Rodrigo being deployed deeper.

Leeds United and their fans will surely not be expecting any kind of positive result on Saturday coming up against one of the best teams in the world who are fresh off the back of putting four past Real Madrid, so Cross opting for James suggests the Whites’ plan of attack will rely on his pace and attempting to catch them napping on the counter.
