Leeds United’s Rodrigo has looked like a different player under Jesse Marsch at Elland Road, appearing to be like the record signing they thought they made when they signed him, something Beren Cross has been looking at.

He took to Twitter to share his latest article looking at the Spanish forward, saying he has been ‘transformed’ by Marsch and he is now the ‘talisman’ of the team:

“Those clear-the-air talks with Marsch transformed him. Three goals in four and now the team’s talisman in this run of form,” Cross tweeted.

Will Rodrigo be a key player for Leeds under Jesse Marsch?

As Cross mentioned in his Tweet, it is a huge difference from where he was, being hooked at half-time against Aston Villa, it shows what a difference a new manager can make to individual players as well as the team.

And it seems the Spaniard has played a big role in Leeds’ recent revival under Marsch off the pitch as well as on it with The Athletic reporting the 31-year-old’s influence outside of match days.

Cross also went on to say this in his report: “Rodrigo has gone from scraping 45 minutes with Leeds United to three goals in four games and the backbone of Jesse Marsch’s resurgence”

TIF thoughts on Cross’ comments…

The Spaniard was beginning to look like a complete flop of a signing before Marsch’s arrival with his record transfer fee looking like a big mistake with just 10 goals to his name before the American’s appointment (via Transfermarkt).

However, he’s certainly stepped up in recent weeks, he has six Premier League goals this season in 25 outings, but half of his goals have come in the last four games, showing the huge difference in his style of play and confidence since the American took over. Two out of the three wins he scored in, Leeds won by a single goal, showing how important he has been.

Patrick Bamford has only managed nine appearances in the league this season, missing the majority of the campaign through injury. So the timing of Rodrigo’s resurgence is massive for Marsch as he looks to guide the Whites to Premier League survival, something he appears to pretty much have done when looking at the table.
