Journalist Joe Donnohue has admitted that it’s difficult to ignore what Leeds United ace Crysencio Summerville is doing for the Under-23s.

Summerville is one of many Leeds United youngsters that have been afforded minutes this season, mainly down to the sheer volume of injuries players in the first team have picked up this campaign. However, with just 118 Premier League minutes and zero goals or assists to his name, it hasn’t quite been the breakout year he may have hoped for.

There was talk during the January transfer window about Summerville potentially departing for Germany at least on a temporary basis, but he now appears to have stepped up his game this calendar year.

Donnohue pointed out that Summerville has boasted insane numbers in 2022 with seven goals in four appearances, as well as winning two penalties and scoring two hat-tricks, and this sort of form may see him trusted under Jesse Marsch – something that hasn’t yet happened.

TIF Thoughts on Summerville…

Chris Powell even said that Crysencio Summerville will ‘excite’ people after he joined Leeds, having seen him play during his time in the Netherlands.

The Dutch winger is still just 20 years old so certainly has time on his side, but with the likes of Jack Harrison and Raphinha seemingly regulars under both Leeds United managers this season, he may find it difficult to break into the side on a consistent basis.

All that he can do is put in the work during training and with the Under-23s as Marsch has been taking in a lot of games at youth level since arriving at the club and spending time with the academy players, which makes Summerville’s insane stats even more difficult to ignore.
