Sky Sports pundit Paul Robinson has claimed that Mateusz Klich may see his game time limited when Jesse Marsch brings new players in the door at Leeds United in the summer.

Klich has been a mainstay in the Leeds side this season, featuring 28 times in the Premier League. There have been several injuries in the Whites camp this season, which has meant players who may not usually be given regular starts have been called up.

During the game against Crystal Palace on Monday night, Klich was caught arguing with Jesse Marsch midway through the first half, and he was then substituted at half-time. The return of Kalvin Phillips to the starting XI might be an indication that the Polish midfielder may well be dropped in their next game.

Marsch will likely be keen to get some new players in the door in the summer after the poor season that Leeds have had, and Robinson highlighted to MOT Leeds News that Klich could be one of the players who are replaced.

He said: “Klich’s played more than I expected him to this season, but his relationship with the manager seems fragmented. We’ve not heard what was said on the pitch when they exchanged dialogue [against Palace] but it doesn’t seem to be a harmonious relationship.

“Marsch is going to without doubt reshape the team because there’s a reason why he was brought in. It’s very rare that a manager gets a job when a team is playing well, so changes need to be made. Players need to be moved out and others need to come in – especially when it’s a new manager who’ll want to bring his own players in. Klich could fall foul of that.”

TIF Thoughts on Paul Robinson’s comments…

Klich has been in poor form for Leeds this season, as in the Premier League, he is ranked 21st in terms of average match rating (6.69), while he is ranked 11th in terms of accurate passes on average per game (23.8) and 13th for interceptions per game (1.5), as per SofaScore.

Although there may be hints that Klich has lost his place in the side due to a spat with Marsch, the American manager has not really been able to drop him, but now with Phillips back in the starting lineup, Leeds can potentially afford to bench him because of performance reasons.
