Journalist Greg O’Keeffe has been speaking on the All Together Now podcast about the injury boost at Everton involving Yerry Mina.

The Colombia international has not been seen since he limped off in the first half during a 3-1 defeat away to Newcastle United and has ended up missing nine games in the process as Everton have slipped further and further down the Premier League table.

Should Yerry Mina start tonight?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

However, Frank Lampard has revealed in his pre-match press conference for their midweek clash against Leicester City, Mina is finally back in contention to play for the Toffees after a few weeks of training and being seen back out on the grass with his teammates.

O’Keeffe believes that it can only be good news for Everton and Lampard that Mina is back in contention to play a part.

He said: “It’s good news, obviously we’ve spoken on this pod a lot about Yerry Mina, it’s absolutely massive having him back in every sense – that’s if he starts, but just keeping him fit again.”

TIF Thoughts on Mina’s return…

Which of these Serie A stars did the Toffees miss out on?

When Mina has been fit and playing for Everton, they have conceded two or more goals on just three occasions, compared to 10 times without him, so while he may not be able to revolutionise the defence on his own, he does make a clear difference, coupled with the fact they have the fifth-worst defence in the Premier League, Mina’s return will certainly be a timely one for Lampard.

After picking up a massive three points against Manchester United two weeks ago, Lampard’s side now find themselves three points above the bottom three with some extremely tough fixtures ahead of them where they will may need to grind out results and sit in against teams that will dominate the ball, so having one of the club’s best defenders available will indeed be huge.
