Journalist Paul Brown has claimed that Allan Saint-Maximin could be a possible target for Everton if they stay in the Premier League.

Saint-Maximin has been linked with a move away from St James’ Park, and Newcastle are reportedly willing to listen to offers if the right money is offered for the winger’s services. Everton are thought to be tracking the progress of the winger after the news that Eddie Howe may be tempted to let him go.

The Frenchman has been one of the standout players for Newcastle this season in the Premier League, and he may well stay at the club and look to be part of the long-term plans, in what looks to be an exciting time for the Magpies.

With the news that Newcastle may be willing to sell Saint-Maximin, Brown highlighted to GiveMeSport that Everton may be one of the teams interested in signing him.

He said: “If they were to stay up, something was to change dramatically and they were to show a certain level of ambition – maybe that’s by selling a player and using that money to reinvest in the squad – it could be possible.”

TIF Thoughts on Paul Brown’s comments…

Saint-Maximin has been a star performer for the Magpies this season. Prior to the Toon’s recent win over Norwich City, he was his side’s top goal contributor in the Premier League (8), while he had created the most big chances for his side (5) and had the most successful dribbles per game (4.3), as per SofaScore.

Everton are well amongst the relegation battle as they currently sit in the relegation zone. They do have a game-in-hand over Burnley however. If the Toffees get relegated to the Championship, it could be likely they will see a haul of players leave in the summer and they will surely have next to no chance of signing Saint-Maximin, so it seems if Saint-Maximin’s future could hinge on Everton’s own destiny.
