Tony Scott has been speaking on the All Together Now podcast about why Farhad Moshiri deserves a statue outside their new stadium.

Everton struck up a major agreement which is huge for the club moving forward, as contractor Laing O’Rourke has committed to completing the final phase of Everton’s new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium, which is set to open for the 2024/25 season and house 52,888 fans on a matchday.

Does Moshiri deserve a statue?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

This will have come as a huge relief to Everton fans after Alisher Usmanov was forced to cut his ties with the Toffees, as one of his companies was set to sponsor the stadium and thus give them a big influx of money to get it done, but now owner Farhad Moshiri has seemingly stepped in and promised to finish what he started with regard to the new ground.

It’s been no secret that Evertonians have grown tired of Moshiri and the board, especially this season, with protests staged throughout the campaign, but Scott sees the owner in a different light.

He said: “For all his faults in employing managers and making stupid decisions in recruitment and listening to agents and directors of football and all the mistakes he’s made in the past, if he was to literally build a brand new stadium on the waterfront with his own money, you’ve got to be looking at statue time on the Bramley-Moore, you’ve got to be looking at a stand.

Which of these Serie A stars did the Toffees miss out on?

“It’s the stuff of dreams that we are going to be having one of the best stadiums, not just in England, in world football on a unique platform in an island on the globe, which is just going to be the best skyline ever.”

TIF Thoughts on Moshiri…

Considering that a lot of Everton fans have called for Moshiri to leave the club because of the hiring and firing of managers he’s brought about at Goodison Park and the vast amount of money that’s been wasted on players, for Scott to call on him to get a statue is quite the claim.

Looking at it from the point of view of him building a stadium with money from his own pocket, it is very impressive that Moshiri has been this committed to Everton and improving them as a club, but considering how rare statues can be even for legends of clubs, calling for the owner to have one might be just overstretching it a bit.
