Journalist Paul Brown has claimed that Anwar El Ghazi does not have a future at Goodison Park after joining Everton in January.

El Ghazi joined the club on loan from Aston Villa, but has only featured twice for the Toffees in the Premier League since he arrived at Goodison Park. Before his move to Merseyside, the Dutch winger made just nine league appearances for Villa, with just four of those coming from the start in the first half of the season.

Former boss Rafael Benitez brought the winger to the club, but soon after, the Spaniard was sacked, which saw the arrival of Frank Lampard. And Lampard has seemingly not been impressed with El Ghazi judging by his lack of game time.

With the lack of opportunities that El Ghazi has been given for Everton, Brown spoke to GiveMeSport and highlighted the role that the winger may have at the club in the future.

He said: “I can’t see that he has a future at the club at all. He’s hardly played. He wasn’t really playing under Benitez and he hasn’t really played at all under Lampard either. It would be very surprising if they decided to make that one permanent.”

TIF Thoughts on Paul Brown’s comments…

El Ghazi, who is valued at £9m (as per Transfermarkt), has been an unused substitute in seven out of the nine times he has been named in the Everton squad. However, if Benitez was still at the club, the winger may have seen his game time increase – with the former boss sacked just one game after the Dutchman’s switch.

Benitez clearly saw something that he liked in the 26-year-old to bring him into the club, but his successor has not shown any sympathy for him and has almost completely left him out.

It does not look like that El Ghazi will remain a Toffees player ahead of the next campaign, and he may well have to look for a new club in the summer considering Steven Gerrard was willing to let him go in January, so he may well do the same in the next transfer window.
