Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on the FIVE YouTube channel about Manchester United’s interest in Declan Rice.

A lot of talk around Manchester United has been about who will be their manager come the new season and Erik ten Hag appears to now be the clear front runner, with outlets reporting that while a deal isn’t done, one is edging closer to completion.

Should Man United sign Rice?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

If or when Man United manage to secure and announce the appointment of Ten Hag, it should allow the club to start working on transfer dealings ahead of the summer window with someone such as Declan Rice being heavily linked with a move to potentially work under the current Ajax boss, despite David Moyes claiming £150 million wouldn’t be enough to sign the midfielder.

Romano has admitted that Man United are interested in Rice, but it won’t be an easy deal to complete.

(5:13) “I see some names at the moment, from what I’m told, are not something concrete like Declan Rice who’s has always been top of the list for Man United but there is no negotiation, there is nothing going on with West Ham.

“So at the moment, we can’t say that they’re negotiating with Declan Rice, he’s always been top of the list but at the moment, also after what David Moyes said a few days ago, it’s not going to be easy.”

TIF Thoughts on interest in Rice…

It’s no surprise that Man United are looking to sign Rice this summer given he ranks inside the top 10 amongst fellow Premier League players when it comes to carrying the ball and also tackles won (FBRef), so he’s a box to box midfielder that can do both sides of the game.

While it remains unclear whether or not Man United could afford to splash out more than £150 million on one single player in Declan Rice, while also improving the rest of the squad, however, bringing in someone such as Rice would be a major boost for Ten Hag in his first Premier League job. Especially as he wants him.
