Emiliano Martinez has sent a glowing message to Ashley young on Instagram after his Aston Villa performance.
Aston Villa managed to go away to Leicester City and picked up a 0-0 draw, which doesn’t appear to be a great result on paper, however, it did bring an end to their run of four straight defeats but do still find themselves just nine points above the bottom three.
Has Young been a good signing for Villa?

No!
While Villa still haven’t won since March 10th which has seen them slide down the Premier League table in a very alarming fashion, they did manage to record their first clean sheet in five games which will have impressed Steven Gerrard.
Martinez, who will be one of the happiest players to get a clean sheet, was very happy with how veteran Ashley Young performed claiming that the defender was the ‘best player on the pitch.’
TIF Thoughts on Young…
It hasn’t quite been the homecoming that Young may have envisioned when he signed for Aston Villa last summer starting just 14 league games this season, however, he is now likely set for a prolonged period of time in the starting lineup with Lucas Digne out injured.
However, Young will be a great player to have in and around the dressing room given his experience in football and the Premier League, so will be a great leader for many of the younger players and the fact that Martinez has picked him out as the best player on the pitch, it shows despite being 36-years old, he’s still got a lot to give and still able to rack up three tackles, four interceptions and 52 touches.
