Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Sanson may well have played his last game for the club as his future is left in major doubt following recent developments.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Jacob Ramsey had signed a new five-year deal with the Villans, proving manager Steven Gerrard’s faith in the youngster.
However, that might spell the end for teammate Sanson, who had already been linked with an exit even before this latest update.
TIF has decided to take a look at how it could play out.

Faith in Ramsey
As mentioned before, Gerrard and Villa seem to have really committed to Ramsey. Not only have they handed him this new deal that should keep him at the club until he is 25 years old – having joined the club aged just six – but he’s been given plenty of chances to impress this season too.
Indeed, the 20-year-old has played 31 times in all competitions this term, while also netted six times in the league and added one assist to that tally.
This game time has come at the expense of Sanson, though, who also plays in the middle of the park. Indeed, the Frenchman has only been trusted to start three Premier League games all season, featuring seven more times off the bench for a lowly total of just 352 minutes.
Sanson on the move?
It’s clear Sanson, who is valued at £12.6 million (as per Transfermarkt), isn’t that fancied by Gerrard, but it looks like he could be wanted elsewhere. Supposedly Marseille are keen on bringing the player back to France – having sold him to Villa for around £14m back in January 2021.
According to a report by Football Insider, the Ligue 1 club are ‘keeping tabs’ on Sanson’s situation ahead of the summer transfer market. The article also adds that Villa would be happy to take a loss in order to get the deal across the line, and might accept bids in the region of £10m.
