Manchester United will be acting in the summer transfer window to bring in a new striker, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist was speaking on his YouTube channel following the Red Devils’ win in the Premier League on Saturday evening against Tottenham Hotspur.

Would Harry Kane be your first choice this summer?

United find themselves still within a shout of making the top four this season as they sit just one point behind Arsenal – albeit having played an extra three games over the Gunners.

Cristiano Ronaldo stole the headlines at Old Trafford on the weekend with a stunning hat trick to clinch the points for Ralf Rangnick’s side.

However, Romano believes United will still be looking to find themselves with a new option at striker with Edinson Cavani set to depart at the end of the season:

(3:15) “I can tell you two things. Man United will 100% sign a new striker in the summer because they are already exploring the market for that position. But at some point, Cristiano is never going to create any problem for that kind of signing.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

Cavani has had a difficult season after extending his stay last summer with just two goals to his name in the 12 appearances he has made in the Premier League.

Ronaldo has faired well across all competitions, on the whole, however, his goals in the Premier League have been far from consistent since his impressive start to the campaign (via Transfermarkt).

The 37-year-old has just one-year remaining on his contract with United and is clearly not a long-term option for the Red Devils.

But with a new manager expected to come through the doors in the summer, we will be interested to see who they look to as a possible option at striker with Harry Kane recently linked.
