Aston Villa ace Lucas Digne has taken to Instagram to provide the fans with an insight into his injury concern after their game on the weekend.

The Frenchman only lasted 10 minutes in their away defeat on Sunday before being forced back to the dressing room after pulling up with an injury concern.

Should Villa have loaned out Matt Targett?

It is believed the left-back has suffered a potential hamstring issue having been seen clutching his left hamstring after going down inside the opening 10 minutes of the game at the London Stadium.

And Digne took to Instagram on Sunday evening to share an update to the fans as he sat at home already beginning his recovery process.

The former Everton man shared an image on his Instagram story with his leg inside of a recovery sleeve with the caption: “My best friend for the next day”.

It has not been the best of starts for Digne at Villa Park having only been able to provide one assist in his eight Premier League appearances under Gerrard.

Having spent £27m on the 28-year-old, perhaps more would have been expected from the left-back in an attacking sense with Matty Cash stepping up in recent months.

The misery was piled on Steven Gerrard’s side who were unable to come away from London with any points after the Hammers sealed the win with two second-half goals.

Fortunately for Digne, Villa do not have a game during the week with their next game coming on Saturday with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal visiting Villa Park.

However, having sent Matt Targett away on loan in January, it does not leave Gerrard with many options at left-back with Ashley Young his replacement on Sunday in London.
