Wolverhampton Wanderers journalist Alex Dickens has claimed the deal to allow Adama Traore to leave has turned into a poor move from Wolves.

The reporter was speaking on the latest Blue, White and Yellow podcast ahead of their Premier League clash on Friday night at Molineux.

Were Wolves right to loan Traore?

Bruno Lage’s men will face Leeds United on Friday who are battling against the threat of relegation from the top flight after a disappointing campaign.

However, Dickens had his concerns despite the Midlands club flying high in the table after allowing Traore to join Barcelona on loan in the January window.

Traore was heavily linked with a potential switch to Tottenham Hotspur, however, the Spaniard opted to return to his former side who now hold the option to make the deal permanent.

(16:00) “I think it’s been quite a big loss, to be honest. I know the last two results make it look quite favourable for Wolves since Adama left. I think it’s probably five, four wins nine games and lost five since he left, all in.”

“In my opinion, they haven’t replaced Adama. It looks like a terrible deal now because Barcelona are throwing out little comments every couple of weeks saying they might not take up the option.

“So Wolves may have landed themselves in it with a player who’s not going to sign a deal with 12 months left on his contract if he comes back in some.”

TIF Thoughts on Dickens’ comments…

Traore had made a brilliant start to life back in La Liga having provided two assists in his opening two league games (via Transfermarkt).

This will obviously catch the attention of the Wolves fans given he only managed one assist for Wolves in 20 Premier League appearances this season.

However, given he was struggling to find his form in the Premier League it is probably a case of hindsight being a wonderful thing.
