Greg Stewart has been speaking on the Record Rangers Podcast about what James Tavernier is like behind the scenes.

James Tavernier took his tally for goals this season up to 12 last Thursday when he netted yet another penalty in the Europa League which set Rangers on their way to a comfortable 3-0 victory in their home leg.

Will Rangers progress in the Europa League?

Yes!

The full-back joined the club when they were outside of the SPFL and has since gone onto captain the famous Gers as well as lifting the league trophy last season, their first since 2011 and with the 30-year old under contract until 2024, it’s not out the question to think he could go down as a Rangers legend when he leaves.

Stewart though has been speaking about what the defender is like off the pitch and behind the scenes.

(10:32) “He’s pretty relaxed, he’s pretty calm behind scenes and when he gets on the field, he puts everything out there and doesn’t leave anything behind. As I say, he’s confident in his ability, he shows that and to me, you won’t realise how good he is until he’s probably not there.”

TIF Thoughts on Tavernier…

Who followed James Tavernier to Rangers from Wigan Athletic in the same season?

During his career, Tavernier has never found a club that he could settle at and call home having made 31 appearances for Rotherham United, the second most for any club only behind Rangers, but at Ibrox Tavernier has become a mainstay under several different managers having racked up 332 appearances.

Tavernier is a lot more than just a full back for Rangers having netted 77 goals and registered 105 assists across all competitions, as well as being a leader on the pitch and a great example of how a footballer should act both on and off the field, so it’s no surprise that Stewart’s revealed Tavernier puts everything he has into his game.
