Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor will be left red-faced as footage has emerged of him from their game at the weekend.

Rangers managed to maintain their challenge for the title this weekend as they ran out 2-1 winners away from home, but they were certainly made to work hard for it.

They had to come from behind thanks to goals from Aaron Ramsey and a late winner from Connor Goldson to ensure that they stayed within touching distance at the top of the table as we head towards the business end of the season.

Do you know how many points Rangers have got in seasons gone by? Let's find out, starting with 2020/21

However, they wouldn’t have had to come from behind at all were it not for the effort, or perhaps lack thereof, from goalkeeper McGregor for Dundee’s opening goal.

In the early stages of the game (via @ScotlandSky), Dundee’s Jordan Marshall managed to get in a cross from the byline and the ball was headed in at the back post by Christie Elliot, with McGregor in the Rangers net just standing there and letting it sail over his head when he could arguably have made a better attempt to pluck it out of the air.

Will Allan McGregor be at Rangers next season?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Despite being Rangers’ No 1 for large parts of the season, racking up 37 appearances, McGregor’s spot at the club next year is far from secure.

He is out of contract at the end of the season, and at his age, it would be very easy for the club to simply move him on, even if former Rangers man Ally McCoist thinks that he might have another year left in him. And moments like this could end up playing a big part in the club’s decision of whether or not they want to keep him.

Whilst it didn’t make a big difference as they still came away with the win, with the table in the state that it is, goal difference could very well play a part in how the title race ends up playing out, and giving away cheap goals like this could end up having a major impact for Rangers as they look to close the gap.
