Reliable journalist Alasdair Gold has stated on his YouTube channel he would be surprised if Celtic did not make Cameron Carter-Vickers’ move to Parkhead permanent at the end of the season.

Carter-Vickers has made a positive impression at the Scottish club, having joined on a season-long loan back in the summer.

And the Tottenham Hotspur correspondent believes his future may lie at Parkhead after becoming a fundamental part of Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic side.

It is believed the Australian manager is hopeful of making the centre-back’s move permanent at the end of the campaign, with Carter-Vickers emerging as a regular feature of his starting XI.

Reports suggest the Bhoys would have to cough up a figure in the region of £6m, but Gold admits he can see the American remaining a Celtic player beyond the 2021/22 campaign.

He said: “It’s just been honestly such a successful move. Ange Postecoglou called him ‘outstanding’ after the game [v St Mirren]. I’d be shocked if Celtic don’t buy him at the end of his loan. They’ve got an option to buy him; they’d be mad if they don’t, because he’s smashing it there.”

TIF Thoughts on Carter-Vickers’ future…

We find it unlikely the American will have any part of Antonio Conte’s plans for the future, with the north London club believed to be looking for a new centre-back after failing to recruit one in January.

And the 24-year-old has clearly settled in well to the Scottish Premiership with 25 appearances and three goals to his name as the Bhoys look to regain the Scottish crown.

If Carter-Vickers can make it to the end of the campaign without any big injury issues, we would also be surprised if Celtic were not to make the deal permanent given his impact on the side this season.
