Steven Gerrard has left a comment on James Tavernier’s Instagram post following Rangers’ latest home win.

Rangers celebrated 150 years since the club’s formation last weekend with a 1-0 win at Ibrox as they celebrated their history, as well as some of their current players who’ll go down as legends, including Tavernier – with the Gers faithful unveiling a surfer flag of him holding the SPFL trophy.

Is Tavernier a Rangers legend?

Tavernier has racked up 330 appearances for Rangers, while captaining the side to their first SPFL title since 2011 while also having netted 75 goals, which for a full-back is an outrageous total.

His former manager, Gerrard, was once again left impressed by the full-back, sending him some fire emojis to describe his performance at the weekend and achievements at the club.

Who followed James Tavernier to Rangers from Wigan Athletic in the same season?

Gerrard, who was the manager at Ibrox for three and a half seasons, was the man who handed Tavernier the captain’s armband on a permanent basis back in 2018, and the defender has never relinquished it since.

Tavernier played the full 90 minutes on Saturday which saw Rangers initially close the gap on their rivals at the top of the table, however, that was extended following Celtic’s win away at Livingston, but all the Gers can do is keep the pressure on and hope the Hoops slip up and be there ready and waiting for that to happen.
