Celtic player Scott Roberton took to Instagram after his loan with Crew Alexandra was cut short due to a season-ending injury.

Robertson joined Crewe Alexandra on loan in the English League One ahead of the 2021/22 campaign and featured 23 times in all competitions this season, according to Transfermarkt. At just 20 years old, he seemingly wasn’t going to get much game time with the Celtic first team, so Ange Postecoglou decided a loan move would be best for his development.

Unfortunately for Robertson, he has been out of action since February due to injury, and it was recently announced that he will not feature for the remainder of the season, so has gone back to his parent club for his recovery.

Robertson was enjoying his loan spell with Crewe after he was featuring regularly, and he took to Instagram to display his frustrations after it was announced that he would be out of action until next season, writing: “Gutted the way it ended, back soon.”

TIF Thoughts on Scott Robertson…

Robertson spent the first half of last season on loan with Gillingham where he featured 15 times, and then the second half of the season with Doncaster Rovers, and this campaign returned to League One with Crewe. He has been playing in a Crewe side that has struggled for any sort of form this season as they sit rock bottom in League One and on the brink of relegation.

The 20-year-old midfielder would have wanted to help his side fight for safety in the remainder of the season but his injury has meant his loan has been cut short.

As he has now got another season of first-team football under his belt, Celtic boss Postecoglou may look to implement him into his side next season, or he might look to get rid of him on a permanent deal.
