Injury analyst Ben Dinnery has claimed that Nelson Semedo’s injury for Wolves could leave him out of the side for longer than first anticipated.

Nelson Semedo has been the mainstay right wing-back for Wolves this season, as he has featured 23 times this campaign in the Premier League, according to Transfermarkt.

The Portuguese defender has not been involved in the side since sustaining a hamstring injury in the defeat to Arsenal a few weeks ago, with Bruno Lage claiming that he could be out for at least a month.

Dinnery told the Premier FPL Injuries YouTube channel that he believes that the initial claim that Semedo will miss four weeks is “optimistic”.

He said: “Nelson Semedo – hamstring, the club say around four weeks. I understand that that timeline may be a little bit optimistic, it could be closer to 6-8 [weeks] for him.”

TIF Thoughts on the Nelson Semedo injury…

Wolves have been solid defensively this season, and Semedo has been part of the back five that have conceded just 23 goals in 28 Premier League games – only the sides that sit in the top three have conceded fewer.

Semedo’s injury may not have been seen as a massive deal before replacement wing-back Ki-Jana Hoever only lasted 25 minutes before he had to make way after picking up an injury on Saturday against Crystal Palace.

Wolves boss Lage will be keen to get the Portuguese defender back to full fitness after his side experienced a drop in form in recent weeks prior to their midweek victory over Watford.
