Wolves podcaster Dave Azzopardi has offered a dejected reaction following news that has come out of the club surrounding Ruben Neves.

It’s fair to say that the Portuguese midfielder has played a big part in Wolves’ season and putting them in position to challenge for European football.

Not only has he chipped in with four goals and two assists in the league, but he also is averaging 2.3 tackles per game, 1.3 interceptions and 1.4 shots which all rank inside the top 5 for Wolves players this season (via WhoScored).

However, Wolves are set to be without him for the foreseeable future as it was announced by the club this afternoon that the 25-year-old “suffered a medial collateral ligament injury to his knee in the match against Leeds United on Friday evening” and that they “are hoping for Ruben to be fit to return in May.”

Azzopardi was clearly distraught by the news as he reacted to it with a video on Twitter in which he played a meme featuring popular American sports broadcaster Stephen A. Smith saying ‘I am having a very bad day. I am in no mood. This, today, is one of the worst days that I’ve had in a long time’:

TIF Thoughts on Dave Azzopardi’s comments about Ruben Neves at Wolves…

Will Neves play again this season?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Neves’ importance to the team is obvious to see by the stats above, and when you consider how close Wolves are to a spot in Europe, just two points off 7th spot in the table that would see them reach the Europa Conference League, for him to be out of action is clearly devastating, as Azzopardi is trying to portray.

This injury could very well be the difference between Wolves getting over the line and falling short when the season ultimately comes to an end.

You just have to hope that there will still be something to fight for when he comes back from his injury so he can maybe give them a fighting chance when he returns.
