ExWHUemployee has revealed that West Ham United midfielder Manuel Lanzini has been ‘suffering’ from an Achilles tendon issue of late.

In the club’s last Premier League match, the Argentine played the full 90 minutes but couldn’t do enough to quite help his team claim a point as they fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat at the weekend.

What may have held West Ham back on that occasion, is the fact that, according to Ex, Lanzini has been carrying a slight injury issue of late.

Indeed, while talking on The West Ham Way podcast, the club insider explained that the club will be keeping a close eye on the midfielder’s fitness as he hasn’t been at 100% in recent times.

He said: “There’s little knocks and niggles. Lanzini has been suffering a bit recently. He’s been called up to the Argentinian preliminary squad as a result of his performances.

“But he’s been suffering a little bit recently with an Achilles tendon [issue], I think, as well, so they’ll have to monitor him closely.”

TIF thoughts on Manuel Lanzini and West Ham…

With key players Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen both fitness doubts for the club’s upcoming Europa League clash with Sevilla this Thursday, Ex’s talk of another possible player struggling for fitness will come as worrying news to many West Ham fans.

Fortunately, Ex does not claim that this issue will keep Lanzini from playing in the game, but with an Argentina call-up potentially coming up too, the club will want to be careful with regard to how many minutes they give their somewhat injured star over the coming weeks.

For now, though, David Moyes will likely be glad to have one important midfielder ready to play a part in Spain this week.
