ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham United have an interest in Gerard Deulofeu, who is ‘good friends’ with Pablo Fornals.
With the end of the season steadily edging closer, the usual talk of summer transfers is already beginning to swirl around the internet.
Most recently, while talking about possible future targets on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex has name-dropped Deulofeu as a man of interest.
He explained why, giving a few interesting reasons as to why it could bode well for fans who’d like to see the deal done.
Ex said: “One player that’s been linked heavily, and I can confirm there is an interest – it’s someone I’ve mentioned numerous times myself, of us having an interest in – is Gerard Deulofeu, who is an Udinese winger.
“He used to play for Watford and Everton in the Premier League, and when he played for Everton, he joined them the year that Moyes left.
“So the year he joined was when Moyes went to Manchester United, but Moyes had been involved in some of the recruitment – so obviously some of the scouting and identifying him as a talent. So he was someone that Moyes knew about.
“He’s also supposedly good friends with Fornals, so Fornals is keen for him to come.”

As Ex mentions, Deulofeu does have past experience of playing in the Premier League before. Indeed, in spells with Watford and Everton, he recorded a combined amount of 127 top-flight appearances, while also scoring 20 goals and adding a further 21 assists.
It’s also interesting to hear that Moyes had once identified him as a promising talent when he was still Everton manager. These past links certainly do seem to add up in favour of a future transfer.

On top of that, the fact that he is close with West Ham man Fornals – who has been an important part of the team this season, with over 40 outings across all competitions – can only help Deulofeu’s case should he be on board with a move.
