Journalist Rob Guest believes the recent performances of Ryan Sessegnon and the return of Sergio Reguilon will provide Antonio Conte with a big boost at Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs cruised to an emphatic victory on Monday night, which saw Sessegnon impress before having to be taken off at half-time due to an injury concern.

The 21-year-old proved a threat down the left side after providing the cross for the opening goal, which was converted by Everton defender Michael Keane into his own net.

His replacement, Reguilon, made an immediate impact after scoring less than a minute into the second half to put Spurs four goals to the good.

And with Matt Doherty also raising his game in recent weeks with two assists against the Toffees, Guest believes the Italian will be pleased with what he is seeing.

Guest wrote for football.london: “His decision to start both Matt Doherty and Ryan Sessegnon once again does seem to suggest that the duo have the wing-back positions wrapped up and they are theirs to lose.

“It will really please Conte at present that both his left wing-backs are making a case for a starting spot.”

TIF Thoughts on Guest’s comments…

Conte is known for his use of wing-backs throughout his career, and up until recently, he had been struggling to get the best out of the options he had at Spurs.

However, there have been definite signs of improvement over the last few weeks, with Sessegnon impressing enough for a reported new contract to have been offered.

With Sessegnon now expected to miss some time due to another injury, perhaps the 21-year-old’s recent form will push Reguilon further to develop under Conte and live up to his £27m price tag.
