Former Premier League footballer Carlton Palmer has claimed that Lucas Moura will not be happy with the lack of game time that he has been getting recently for Tottenham Hotspur.

Moura has featured 26 times for Tottenham this campaign, but nine of those appearances have come from the bench, and his game time has become increasingly scarce since the January introduction of Dejan Kulusevski on loan from Juventus.

The Brazilian has featured over 30 times in the Premier League in the previous two campaigns, but at least 10 appearances in each have come from the bench, which may well have left the Brazilian unhappy, as he hasn’t been starting regularly.

On whether Moura may request a transfer at Spurs, Palmer told GiveMeSport that he isn’t going to be happy with the current situation that he finds himself in.

He said: “For sure. I don’t think he’s going to be happy not playing. No player is going to be happy not playing. You have to look at whether you’ve been playing consistently well, playing well enough to warrant your first-team place, and if you have been playing well enough and you’re not in the team, then you’re going to have a discussion with the manager.”

TIF Thoughts on Lucas Moura…

Moura has had a frustrating season for Spurs. He has scored just two goals in 26 Premier League appearances, which equals a goal every 771 minutes, as per SofaScore. He also averages just 0.5 shots on target per game in the Premier League for his side.

With the Brazilian failing to cement his place in the Spurs first team since signing from Paris Saint-Germain in 2018, he may well look for a move elsewhere in the summer, as Kulusevski will remain at the club until the end of next season, which could lead to Moura being pushed further down the pecking order in the long term.
