Football writer Alasdair Gold has said that Lucas Moura could be a ‘potential’ summer sale for  Tottenham Hotspur.

After the winter arrival of Dejan Kulusevski from Juventus, the Brazilian has had to drop the bench in recent times. Indeed, while the new man has started the last seven league games, Lucas has largely had to settle for a substitute role to make space.

However, in a recent report by Football Insider, it was claimed that the club don’t intend to sell the 29-year-old despite the big impact made by Kulusevski.

Even so, while speaking on his YouTube channel, Gold said that Spurs could be tempted into a sale because Lucas could potentially fetch a decent fee in the transfer market. He added that the player could be also open to a move due to his recent lack of game time.

Should Spurs look to cash in on Lucas Moura this summer?

He explained: “It seems like he’s quite settled. The only thing I’d say with Lucas is he is someone that Spurs could get a bit of money for.

“And if they feel that they want to put that money towards somewhere else and he wants to get more regular football, then maybe that’s something that happens.

“Kulusevski’s impact has really pushed him to the sidelines, but things change so quickly in football. We’ll see, but he’s a potential [sale].”

TIF Thoughts on Lucas Moura and Spurs…

It’s important to note that Gold had earlier said the player seems quite settled. Considering he’s been at the club now since January 2018, that certainly makes a lot of sense.

So perhaps Lucas is happy to play a bit-part role for now and will try and reclaim his spot in the team in the near future. Still, if he can’t do that before the end of the season, he may start to have doubts about his status in Antonio Conte’s plans.

Or, even if he does want to stay, Spurs may want to cash in on Lucas – just as Gold mentions. After all, he still has a contract that runs until 2024, and at 29 years of age, this summer may be the last chance to really get a good price for the former Paris Saint-Germain man.
