Newcastle United’s Miguel Almiron hasn’t had the type of season he would have hoped for, not being a first team regular and struggling for minutes since the upturn in form for the Magpies.

Almiron has only played 20 Premier League games this season, starting just 11 of them. He hasn’t played 90 minutes in the league since early November, showing us what Eddie Howe thinks of him.

Will Newcastle qualify for Europe next season?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

That sentiment is reinforced by Dean Jones, who talking to GiveMeSport, revealed that Howe genuinely doesn’t really rate the Paraguayan, who at the time, was the record signing for Newcastle.

Jones had the following to say on Howe’s thoughts on Almiron: “Ultimately, even Almiron, who they invested heavily in and expected a lot from, he doesn’t fit with what they’re doing here, and from what I hear, they don’t particularly rate him either.”

TIF thoughts on Almiron…

Despite the eye-watering wealth Newcastle now have, it doesn’t make sense to keep players around the club who are not part of the plans for the manager. Moving him on would free up wages and add money to the transfer kitty.

Starting with a relatively recent player. Who is this?

You’d imagine Almiron is keen to move on too given his limited opportunities. No player enjoys not playing, but he has had plenty of time to prove himself to Howe. If he still isn’t rated by the manager at this point, then an exit could be on the horizon for Almiron.
