Liam Kennedy has been speaking on NUFC Matters about which area of the squad Newcastle United and PIF will look to improve this summer.

PIF pumped over £90 million into Newcastle United’s coffers back in January to help Eddie Howe’s right against the bottom three and it appears to have paid off considering they now see the Magpies sit nine points above the bottom three.

Should Newcastle sign Darwin Nunez?

If Newcastle do manage to secure their Premier League safety for at least another season, then perhaps PIF will look to hand Howe an even larger transfer budget in the summer to potentially launch a European charge.

Kennedy believes that signing a striker will be the priority for Newcastle this upcoming transfer window.

(51:27) “I think they’ll definitely sign a goal scorer, I think that’s what the majority of the summer budget will go on is going out and securing a top centre forward.

“Whether that’s somebody already scoring goals in the Premier League or whether it’s somebody a bit more unproven but highly regarded on the continent, I’m not too sure yet.”

TIF Thoughts on Newcastle’s potential striker search…

A nice and easy one to start off with, how much is Callum Wilson worth?

With PIF supposedly looking to spend a significant amount of money according to Liam Kennedy, it’s an exciting thought to think that the club could be such a large amount on a striker.

Of course, Newcastle United did manage to bring in a striker in January in the form of Chris Wood for £25 million, but with just one goal since his debut, it appears unlikely that he’ll be the main man for Eddie Howe’s side heading into next season.

The Magpies have been linked most recently with a move for Benfica’s Champions League hero Darwin Nunez but will reportedly have to shell out £60 million for the Uruguayan striker, although considering Newcastle’s wealth now, that may just be a drop in the ocean for their overall spending this upcoming summer.
