Manchester United hope to have the process of their managerial search completed within the next 2-3 weeks.

This is according to Fabrizio Romano, who was speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE YouTube channel to discuss the Red Devils’ search for a new manager.

Is Ten Hag your favourite for the job?

No

Ajax’s Erik ten Hag and Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauricio Pochettino are reportedly the two frontrunners for the expected vacancy at the end of the season.

And it is believed the current Ajax manager, Ten Hag, has held talks with the Premier League side over the possibility of becoming the next permanent manager in the Old Trafford dugout.

With Ten Hag reportedly impressing the United representatives, Romano had the following to say on whether United could decide on their next manager by the end of the month:

“Maybe it would be too early, I think end of March, they’re still in the process. Let’s see, let’s see how it will end up. I will keep it open, but maybe could be too early.

“But I’m sure that in like 2-3 weeks, they hope to complete the process and then I don’t know honestly if it’ll be public or not – there is no answer on the club’s side about this.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

There is no immediate rush for United to nail down their next manager given there are still nine Premier League games to be played by the Red Devils.

However, if they do have the process wrapped up by the middle of next month, then it would provide them with plenty of time to plan ahead for the summer transfer window with their new manager.

And with reports claiming the meeting with the Dutchman went well, we will be interested to see if United’s manager search begins to pick up speed over the next week.
