TalkSport pundit Simon Jordan has hinted that Tammy Abraham could be an option for Manchester City to look at during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Centre-forward is a position that Manchester City are certainly lacking in right now, with Gabriel Jesus as their loan option when it comes to that particular role. Although that hasn’t necessarily stopped them when it comes to scoring goals, with 68 to their name in the Premier League alone.

However, given reports suggesting that they could make a move for Erling Haaland this summer, it stands to reason that it is something that they are looking to address.

Speaking on TalkSport, Jordan claimed that whilst Abraham, who has 23 goals in all competitions this season in 40 appearances might not be in the same bracket as someone like Haaland who has 23 in 23, he could still provide Manchester City with a body in the middle of their attack that they will be needing going forward:

“But then the other side of the argument, is that there’ll be teams that are playing in the Champions League, that are playing European football at the highest level that are winning things that might consider Tammy Abraham was part of a roll call, a roster that they would like to have.

(0:32) “You wonder if the Man City’s of the world look at him in a certain way because clearly they’re gonna look at a centre forward.

“Now we’ve got the discussion going on about Erling Harland and how much that disgusting amount of money that his agent wants for him, it’s gonna come to the fore. Now he’s not Erling Haaland, different build, different dynamic, but he’s a centre forward, and centre forwards get goals and the centre of attack is something that Man City don’t have. So he could be in Man City’s plans.”

Recent reports have suggested that his current side AS Roma have slapped a £100m price tag on him, but whilst Haaland does have a €75m (£62.4m) buyout clause attached, reports in France claim that when his wages and other finances are attached to the deal, it will likely be closer to €300m (£249.9m) to bring him on board.

So really it comes down to how much Manchester City are willing to spend to get a centre-forward in and whether or not someone like Haaland will be worth all that extra money, or if they would rather spend less, bring in someone of a lesser quality and spend on pieces around him to bring him up a level.

But if he can perform at the level that he has done for AS Roma and bring that to Manchester, then it isn’t the worst thing that they could do because as Jordan hints at, he could perform the role for them, even if he isn’t the number one option that they could possibly have.
