Liverpool journalist Ben Bocsak has given his thoughts on the future of Greek defender Kostas Tsimikas and the chances of him leaving this summer.

Despite having to compete with the likes of Andrew Robertson, arguably one of the best left-backs in the world in recent years which has meant his minutes have been very restricted since he joined the club, the 25-year-old Greek still has a role to play at Anfield.

His increase in minutes from this year to last best demonstrates that, and when he has played he’s been able to show his worth to the side. According to WhoScored he is either level with or above his Scottish counterpart when it comes to tackles per game, interceptions, blocks and crosses.

Do you know how many points Liverpool gain in these seasons? Let's start of with 2020/21

And those performances have clearly caught the eye of some teams in European football as reports suggest that ‘many clubs’ are interested in him.

Speaking on a recent edition of the Blood Red podcast (2:08) as part of a discussion about what sort  of deals the club could be looking to do in the summer when it came to their defence, Bocsak expressed his belief that there wouldn’t be any sort of movement when it came to the left-back spot and that he didn’t think the Greek would want to leave the club right now:

“The left-back position I think it’s fair to say is probably sorted, there’s no need for incomings or outgoings. I think I saw there’s some minor rumours about teams being interested in Kostas Tsimikas, but I don’t think he’s interested in moving away from Anfield anytime soon.”

Can Tsimikas ever replace Robertson as the #1 left-back?

No

No

Bocsak’s views are backed up by the same report as it claims that “he is 100% happy” at Liverpool at the moment and that there is ‘zero chance’ that he will leave, which does make sense when you think about it.

Whilst it might be hard for him to get into the side ahead of the likes of Robertson, that doesn’t mean that he is totally worthless to Liverpool as the stats when it comes to appearances and performance show.

So if Tsimikas, who is valued at £9 million (as per Transfermarkt), can still fulfil that backup role for the Scot to the level that he has been doing whenever he is called upon, whether it be through injury or suspension, then there shouldn’t really be any need for the club to be looking to sell him and if he is happy with that role then there shouldn’t be any fear that he could be about to leave.
