Newcastle United were unlucky to leave Stamford Bridge on Sunday with nothing to show for their efforts, losing out to a late Kai Havertz strike.

The brilliance of the German was worthy of winning any game of football, with his sublime first touch to set up the clinical finish, but was he lucky to be on the pitch?

Will PIF bring silverware to Newcastle?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Despite not being able to keep the clean sheet, Lee Ryder was still full of praise for Fabian Schar who played his part in keeping the Blues at bay for so long, giving him a 7/10 rating. He made eight clearances in the game showing his importance to the backline of the Magpies.

He backed that up by saying: “Looked unflappable for the most part. Could have nicked it with a header at the end.”

It was a frustrating day for the Magpies despite a solid performance. The refereeing decisions of David Coote have slightly overshadowed proceedings. Not sending  Havertz off for his elbow on Dan Burn has split opinion, with the call to deny Newcastle a penalty causing uproar.

The loss isn’t a disaster for the Magpies who still hold a healthy nine point advantage to the drop zone and look all but safe now with the form of those below them nothing to worry about.
