Leeds United registered a much needed Premier League win against fellow relegation candidates Norwich City on Sunday afternoon at Elland Road. In truly dramatic fashion, they won 2-1, finding the winner with minutes remaining.

Leeds took the lead through Rodrigo early in the first half. The Spanish forward saw his effort deflect off Ben Gibson, but he won’t care. A huge goal for Leeds in a huge game.

Disaster then struck towards the end however when Kenny McLean equalised in stoppage time before Joe Gelhardt saved the day, winning the game for Leeds.

Aaron McLean was reporting on the live text feed on Sky Sports, and at the half time interval he heaped the praise Rodrigo, saying: “Rodrigo was a livewire in that first half.”

You can see from his heatmap on SofaScore.com he put a shift in, covering plenty of the attacking positions, especially to the left-hand side. He also completed a key pass and only lost the ball seven times showing his reliability.

Which comedian supports the Whites?

The goal and performance was a far cry from his displays over the course of this campaign, which have been below-par to say the least, netting just two Premier League goals before today, and leading to some criticism from the likes of Ally McCoist.

And, it was quite telling that Marcelo Bielsa didn’t seem to trust him entirely, with the Spaniard playing 45 minutes of a game (either being hooked at half-time or having to come on at the break) on five separate occasions.

His goal set Leeds on their way to a momentous victory, pulling themselves away from the drop zone, forming a four point cushion. Not only did they put more distance between themselves and the drop, they also denied important points for relegation rivals Norwich.

In other news, Raphinha knew all along!
