Journalist Joe Donnohue has slammed Leeds United’s Rodrigo on Twitter after his woeful display in the Premier League last night.

Rodrigo has featured regularly for Leeds this campaign, having played in 21 Premier League games whilst contributing with three goals and one assist, as per Transfermarkt.

Last campaign, Rodrigo featured 26 times in the Premier League, but 12 of those appearances came from the bench. Due to the injury crisis at Elland Road, the Spaniard has seen his game time rise this campaign.

Donnohue wrote on Twitter highlighting just how bad Rodrigo was last night when Leeds lost 3-0 against an in-form Aston Villa side.

He said: “Rodrigo’s played like he’s wearing somebody else’s boots.”

TIF Thoughts on Rodrigo…

Rodrigo didn’t have the greatest of games yesterday as he was hooked after just 45 minutes. He misplaced seven passes, lost three duels and lost possession nine times (SofaScore).

Just six sides have scored less often than Leeds this season in the Premier League (29), and although they have been struck with injuries, including top scorer last season Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo has been one of the players who has failed to step up and provide any type of form in terms of producing goals for his side.

Rodrigo joined Leeds from Valencia in 2020 for £26m. With this price tag, along with his 27 appearances for Spain, he had a lot to live up to. But he has scored just 10 goals in 47 league appearances, so has somewhat failed to live up to his name in a Leeds shirt.
