Everton veteran Seamus Coleman will not want to see footage of himself that has been shared online following his side’s recent humiliation.

Earlier this week, the Toffees travelled to north London to face Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur. It’s safe to say things did not go to plan for Frank Lampard’s men, as they were comfortably beaten 5-0.

One clip from the game has emerged, which shows the disparity in quality and effort between the players on either side. Indeed, a clip circulated on Twitter of footage showing the Irish defender trying to track Spurs winger Son Heung-min during the match.

The forward sprints through on goal at great speed, while Coleman looks as though he is running through sand as he attempts to chase back. Unable to even get close to the opposition player, the Irishman is bailed out by goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who saves Son’s effort.

TIF Thoughts on Seamus Coleman and Everton…

After the game, Coleman spoke ominously about his team’s display, saying it ‘felt like something different’. The result now leaves Everton perilously close to the relegation zone, sitting just one point above Burnley, who are currently in 18th place.

With the 33-year-old right-back clearly struggling to keep up with the pace in this last match, perhaps it’s time for Lampard to try a fresh face in that role.

One option could be former Rangers defender Nathan Patterson. However, he had to be hooked at half-time on debut after a disappointing display against Boreham Wood in the FA Cup – so it’s not exactly clear if Lampard has much faith in him just yet.
