Dan Cook has been speaking about the future of Conor Gallagher at Crystal Palace on the HLTCO podcast.

With every passing game and week, it appears that Gallagher grows in stature and his ability only gets better, with the on-loan Palace midfielder now an England international, having started the last game for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions.

Will Palace keep Gallagher beyond this season?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Gallagher has been an outstanding temporary signing by the Eagles, with the midfielder leading the way in goal contributions, presses and ranking second for tackles won, showing he’s a youngster that can do everything that a manager would want.

However, this does come at a cost, with Cook almost resigned to the possibility of Gallagher not returning to Selhurst Park next season.

He said: “With every week that passes, it looks more and more likely as though he will be heading back to Stamford Bridge at the end of this season, rather than exploring a scenario that sees him stay put in SE25.”

Think you're the biggest Crystal Palace fan? Then who is the club's record signing?

Given how well Gallagher has played for Palace this season and the fact he has now broken into the England setup, it would be extremely bizarre and unlikely for Chelsea to sanction a sale in the summer, especially when they will be looking to improve their side ahead of a more sustainable title challenge next season.

If and when Palace lose Gallagher in the summer, it will be an almighty task for Steve Parish and Patrick Vieira to find a replacement that is even half the player he already is at the tender age of 22 years old, however, given their recruitment last summer with the likes of Marc Guehi and Michael Olise arriving, fans shouldn’t be too worried.
