Journalist Michael Bridge has identified that Cristian Romero traveling to South America despite not being named in the Argentina squad will be frustrating for Spurs.

Cristian Romero is currently banned for Argentina but they have appealed it and if successful it will be reduced to just one game, meaning he can play in their friendly against Ecuador.

Of course, Spurs would have much preferred it if he wasn’t sent over to South America and that he could use this break to rest and remain with the other players at the club, not on international duty.

The Argentine has suffered from several injury problems this season, which has meant he’s only featured in 16 Premier League games for his side, with another eight appearances coming in cup competitions.

So, having suffered with injury troubles already this campaign, Michael Bridge spoke to GIVEMESPORT and said that Spurs will be fuming with the news that he is still with Argentina, despite not being named in the initial squad.

“I’d imagine they are (fuming). I think it’s the Argentina curse again, isn’t it? They just seem to really do Spurs over,” Bridge said.

TIF Thoughts on Cristian Romero…

Cristian Romero has impressed when he has played for Spurs this season having average player rating of 7.08 over his last five games in the Premier League, as well as having an average passing accuracy of 87%, and averaging just under three tackles per game for his side, as per Sofascore.

Antonio Conte already has the likes of Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga out on the sidelines, so you can understand why Spurs could be fuming to have another star at risk.

Indeed, Spurs don’t have fond memories of Romero going away on international duty as he suffered a hamstring injury in a World Cup qualifier against Brazil which kept him out for a period of time.
