Football journalist James McNicholas has compared Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka with Premier League star Mohamed Salah.

The young Englishman has caught the eye this season with an impressive eight goals and five assists in the league. His fine form has helped the Gunners in their push for Champions League football and was evidently on display as Mikel Arteta’s men claimed a key 2-0 home victory over Leicester City last time out.

Indeed, while speaking on his own YouTube show On the Whistle, McNicholas couldn’t help but dish out the praise for the club’s talented forward.

The writer spoke of one moment in the game, in particular, that had him seeing visions of Salah racing down the wing for Liverpool.

He said: “You’ve got guys like [Gabriel] Martinelli and Saka who just provide so much threat. There was one run in the first half where Saka was just flying past defenders.

“I mean, he looked like Salah in that moment.

“Not quite got the finishing touch to his game that Salah has. But who knows, maybe that will come.”

TIF thoughts on Bukayo Saka and Arsenal…

While it’s a kind comparison to make, Saka certainly has some way to go before he can reach Salah’s level. Indeed, already this term, the Egyptian has 20 league goals and ten assists to his name.

Of course, the winger also has the record for the most goals scored in a single season when he broke the record back in 2018 with his 32 strikes.

Will Bukayo Saka become one the best wingers in the world?

As McNicholas states, Saka’s recent performances suggest there is even more to come as he gains more experience. And while he may be a little way off Salah just yet, there can certainly be no doubting the potential the 20-year-old possesses.
