Steven Gerrard was loving what his former captain James Tavernier posted on Instagram following Rangers’ latest victory.

Rangers managed to pull off one of their biggest ever wins in Europe last night when they travelled to Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund and smashed them 4-2 in the first leg of their Europa League qualifying match.

Will Rangers beat Dortmund in the second leg?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

It was former manager Gerrard who was at the helm when they crashed out of the Champions League and into the Europa League and despite having left the club last year the Scouser is still clearly looking out for his former side.

Gerrard commented some fire emojis on Tavenrier’s Instagram post which read ‘What a night, Unbelievable team performance against a top side! Thank you to all our travelling supporters.’

TIF Thoughts on Gerrard still looking out for Rangers…

While it would’ve been disappointing for Rangers fans to see Gerrard jump ship mid-season with the club looking to regain their SPFL title, what he did for the Gers can never be forgotten as he took them back to the top of Scottish football and stopped their bitter rivals winning 10 league titles in a row.

With Gerrard managing Aston Villa now and getting ready for their next game this weekend, it shows what he’s like as a person and that he hasn’t forgotten what Rangers did for his managerial career that he’s looking out for their results and showing his support for the club and Tavernier, who was a loyal servant under him.
