Charlie Adam has sent a message of support to Rangers man Steven Davis after he made his first start for the club in 2022.

Over the weekend, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side cruised to a 3-0 Scottish Cup victory over Annan Athletic thanks to efforts from Filip Helander, Fashion Sakala and Kemar Roofe.

In that match, Davis was in ‘impressive form’ as he made his first start since the start of December. After that win, the Northern Ireland international took to Instagram to say: “Into the next round. Good to get minutes in the legs & thanks to the travelling fans on a wet and windy night.”

Spotting the post, ex-Gers midfielder Adam commented: “Good to see you back running it, mate.”

Now 37 years of age, the veteran midfielder is very much in the twilight of his footballing career, but it seems that Adam’s delight over his comeback shows he still has something left to offer for the Gers.

His experience is still trusted and relied upon regularly in the club’s setup, too. Indeed, this season, Davis had made 24 appearances across all competitions.

No doubt, he’ll be hoping to play a big role in the coming months as Rangers look to retain the Scottish Premiership title – though there is much work still to do.
