Wolves reporter Nathan Judah has given his views on Willy Boly and the role he could play for the club between now and the end of the season.

Having once been a pretty prominent member of the Wolves side – only missing five games of the 2018/19 season (three of which were through suspension) – the 30-year-old has had some terrible luck recently when it comes to staying fit.

The last few seasons have seen him miss a whole host of games due to his lack of fitness as well as some other health issues, with his last appearance for the club coming in their Carabao Cup tie against Spurs back in September.

Fitness issues plagued Silvio's career, but where did Wolves sign him from?

Speaking on the latest edition of the E&S Wolves podcast, following a question from a fan about whether or not the club should be looking to sell Boly in the summer, Judah responded by stating that he didn’t think the club should be so eager to get rid of him, and that despite his injury issues, he’ll still have a part to play between now and the end of the season.

He said: “For me, I still think Willy Boly – I don’t know why, but I still think he’s got a part to play this season somewhere down the line.

“And I know it’s been very difficult and I know he’s been injured and I know there’s been issues, but I feel like, at some point in the next two to three months, Willy Boly will have a very important role to play in this run-in.”

Is Willy Boly Wolves' best defender?

With fellow Wolves journalist Tim Spiers taking to Twitter this past week to confirm that Boly was back in training and ‘should be back soon’, it appears as though Judah could be right that the Ivorian might play a part this season. But the question is, should he?

Wolves appear to have excelled without him so far this season, conceding just 17 goals in the league all season – the second-fewest in the top flight.

And whilst Boly did play a big part for them last season – ranking in the top three for interceptions, clearances and blocks per game as well as aerial duels won (via WhoScored), they appear to have stumbled on a pretty impressive style of play and team cohesion with the players they have now.

So whilst he might well be available sooner rather than later, they shouldn’t be too busy to risk disrupting what they have just now purely because Boly is on the way back.
