Wolves posted an update on Pedro Neto’s fitness on Instagram, suggesting the Portuguese star is ‘continuing his recovery’.

The Wolves winger has been out injured since April and has proved to be a huge miss for the Midlands side, as they are currently the third-lowest scorers in the Premier League – having found the back of the net just 19 times this season.

However, considering he is now clearly back training with a ball on the grass, he may well be closing in on a potential return, which could be the timely boost Bruno Lage’s side need as they make a push for a spot in Europe.

And it seems the 21-year-old is looking forward to getting back out there, as he shared some of the images on his own Instagram story on Friday, while he did the same earlier this week.

TIF Thoughts on Neto’s potential return…

It’s no surprise that Wolves and their usually reliable striker Raul Jimenez have struggled this season for goals, because Neto was a huge player for them last season, with Premier League legend Alan Shearer labelling him a huge talent this time last year.

He chipped in with five goals and six assists, but he was also hugely creative, finishing the campaign having created nine goal-creating actions per 90 minutes, a club-high (as per FBRef).

Considering Neto has been out for so long, it would make a lot of sense for Lage to ease him back into the team when he’s ready for some minutes, which could see him get a few substitute appearances before being thrust into the starting lineup, even though Wolves clearly need his creativity given their present lack of goals.
