West Ham United insider ExWHUemployee has been discussing Hammers youngster Conor Coventry and his form whilst out on loan.

The 21-year-old, despite being dubbed by some outlets as ‘one of West Ham’s hottest prospects’, has very much been a fringe player at the London Stadium, only making three appearances for the senior side over the years with the rest of it spent either with the academy or out on loan.

He currently finds himself on loan at MK Dons, where he has been a regular for them since joining in January, starting four games and completing 90 minutes on three occasions.

A staple of FIFA Ultimate Team in 2012, which Nigerian striker had a disastrous spell at the Hammers?

ExWHUemployee spoke about the youngster on the latest edition of The West Ham Way podcast as part of a segment where he discussed a number of Hammers players who are out on loan.

He relayed information that he had gathered from a number of people who watched Coventry’s performance at the weekend, and he appears to be making quite the impression at Stadium MK.

Ex said: “Conor Coventry played for MK Dons who are third in League One and he started against Lincoln in a 2-1 win. Conor once again had a great performance in midfield and [is] solidifying his place in the team as they push for promotion to the Championship. I heard that he was absolutely brilliant against Lincoln, I’ve heard that from a number of people, so good to see that he’s doing well there.”

Do you think Conor Coventry is ready to be a regular player for West Ham?

It is good to see that Coventry is earning some rave reviews for his performances whilst out on loan.

Because if he is indeed one of their hotter prospects, the club are starting to approach the territory of having to decide what to do with him, which may well include putting him into the first team.

With Mark Noble set to retire and Declan Rice possibly leaving the club this summer, there might be a number of spaces in the team opening up, and Coventry could well find himself taking one of those positions.

You just have to hope that the club give him a proper opportunity in the side to prove himself first rather than just toss him aside this summer and buy someone else instead, because Coventry could end up saving them a lot of money.
