TalkSport reporter Alex Crook has given his thoughts on Armando Broja’s future – which could very well have an impact on West Ham United.

The Albanian has certainly made an impression this season whilst out on loan, bagging eight goals so far in all competitions this season.

And with West Ham United in desperate need of an extra forward on their books for some time now, it’s no surprise that they might look at him as an option, with a report from Football Insider claiming that they were interested in signing him in the January window.

A staple of FIFA Ultimate Team in 2012, which Nigerian striker had a disastrous spell at the Hammers?

And whilst that deal didn’t come to pass, there’s always the chance they could grab him this summer instead when he returns to Chelsea after his loan from Southampton.

Speaking on the TalkSport GameDay podcast, Crook discussed his form for the Saints, before talking about what his future might look like based on the Albanian’s ambitions for the rest of his career and some of the other clubs that are showing an interest in him.

Crook said: “He certainly grabbed that opportunity with both hands and when you start talking about clubs like Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich showing interest, that is a difficult one for him to turn down to stay at Southampton, even though I understand he’s very happy there – he enjoys playing under Ralph Hasenhuttl, he likes the environment.

“But I think he will want to test himself at the highest level. I know from speaking to him, he’s very ambitious to go and do that.”

This claim from Crook might just give West Ham United a little bit of an edge.

Because whilst Crook mentions clubs such as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, West Ham United – especially if they are to qualify for some form of European competition next season – can offer him the perfect middle ground.

Not only would he get another season of Premier League football under his belt, but he can also test himself against competition in Europe as well. That way he can use West Ham United as a sort of stepping stone to lead to bigger things later in his career – either at a big club like Bayern or by helping turn West Ham into one.

And at the same time, the Hammers will have added another forward to the line to support Antonio by bringing in Broja, which is something that they have needed for some time. It’s a win-win situation for both player and club.
