Journalist Jack Rosser has given his view on West Ham’s Tomas Soucek, after the Hammers disappointingly drew against Newcastle United at home this afternoon.

West Ham went a goal up in the 31st minute via defender Craig Dawson, but Joe Willock equalised in the 45th minute for the Magpies.

There was a number of poor performances from the West Ham players, but Tomas Soucek was noted as particularly bad by Rosser, with the midfielder having made just one tackle, being dribbled past once and losing possession nine times.

‘Tomas Soucek – 5/10, looks way off the force West Ham supporters know he can be, offering far too little of a threat going forward.’ Rosser described Soucek.

The Czech may well be a victim of his own downfall, after all, he has been near enough faultless for the Hammers after he signed on a permanent deal in January 2020.

He scored 10 goals and featured in every one of West Ham’s 38 Premier League games last campaign. He has also been also superb on his defensive duties in the heart of midfield next to England’s Declan Rice for the Hammers and has developed into a real fans favourite.

So, his poor display against Newcastle may well have just been a one off, away from his usual best and there shouldn’t be much doubt that he will get back to his good form and help David Moyes’s side push on and attempt to secure a top four finish come the end of the season.
