Presenter ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham United defender Arthur Masuaku could potentially miss the rest of the season with injury.

It was recently announced on the Hammers’ official website that the left-back is currently undergoing treatment to deal with a knee injury.

At the time, manager David Moyes said he was unsure if the player would need an operation and that the issue is Masuaku has got ‘a bit of floating bone in his knee’.

Now, while talking on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex outlined his understanding of the situation, saying that it could end up being a very serious issue.

Would losing Arthur Masuaku for the rest of the season be a big blow for West Ham?

Yes

Yes

No

No

He said: “Obviously, Masuaku hasn’t featured for a couple of games now. That’s because of a knee injury, the same knee injury that he had before, which they say is caused from playing on hard pitches when he has been on international duty for the Democratic Republic of Congo.

“And so he’s got this ongoing knee injury which needs to be investigated by specialists before they can determine whether he can play again.

“He might even be ruled out for the rest of the season, but they don’t know for certain at this point what the situation is.”

TIF Thoughts on Arthur Masuaku and West Ham…

Masuaku is not the club’s first-choice left-back, as he is the main deputy to Aaron Cresswell. With that in mind, West Ham really won’t want him to be out for the long term, as it would put an awful lot of pressure on Cresswell to stay fit and perform to a high level.

As things stand, Moyes’ men are pushing for European football next season and currently hold a place in the Premier League’s top four. They’ll need all the help they can get for the rest of the season and so this latest update could be a big blow for the club.

And with the club still reeling from the situation involving Kurt Zouma, this is arguably the last thing they need.

No doubt, all involved in the club will be waiting to hear the full extent of the final injury diagnosis with bated breath.
