ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham United coaches Kevin Nolan and Paul Nevin ‘really rate’ Conor Coventry.

After ending an ‘unsuccessful loan spell’ with Championship club Peterborough United earlier this term, the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international ended up at MK Dons for the rest of the season.

At his current side, he looks to be performing a lot better, with the club’s official social media account recently singling him out for praise after a 0-0 home draw against Ipswich Town.

It seems as though Coventry is also appreciated by his parent club, too, with Ex stating that he thinks the youngster will get a chance next season as some of the club’s first-team coaches rate the player’s quality.

Indeed, when speaking on The West Ham Way podcast, he said: I can’t understand why we signed [Alex] Kral, especially when we had Conor who had done really well in pre-season.

“I think the plan was to give him more games so he can come back even more experienced, but I think he would have gained as much from staying with us and getting that Europa League experience than perhaps going to MK Dons.

“But if MK Dons get promoted, which they’re looking like they will, either via the play-offs or via an automatic spot – now, that’s a good experience to have.

“And hopefully he can come back in the new season and prove himself, which I believe he will be given the chance. Coaches like Nolan and Nevin especially, really rate him and I think they will give him a go.”

TIF Thoughts on Conor Coventry and West Ham United…

It’s interesting to hear Ex namedrop Alex Kral. The Czech midfielder has played just one minute of Premier League football since signing and doesn’t seem to be a great fit for David Moyes’ plans.

Not long ago, Ex suggested that West Ham may not sign the player permanently at the end of the season if he fails to play a certain number of games.

With all that in mind, Coventry may be looking at the Hammers midfield with an eye on taking Kral’s place in the team next season. It certainly seems as though he’ll have the support of a few first-team coaches on his side if he does try and work his way into Moyes’ thinking.
